Offshore Energy Alliance Partner wins at Renewable UK’s Global Offshore Wind Awards, London

The Offshore Energy Alliance (OEA) is proud to announce that three of our Regional Partners won awards at Renewable UK’s recent Global Offshore Wind Awards!

First off, The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (OREC) claimed the Equality and Inclusivity award for their commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion by setting up seven diversity forums including interfaith, women and LGBTQ-plus groups. ORE Catapult’s Tony Quinn also won the Social Impact award for his involvement in social change in Blyth and the local area, developing Blyth STEM Hub which engages with 2,500 school pupils a year, and the Energy Central Learning Hub, a new education, training and skills facility.

Then Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) won The Offshore Wind Gamechanger award for their revolutionary recyclable turbine blade – the world’s first! Siemens Gamesa was also named overall winner with The Judges Award for its global impact on sustainability.

And last but by no means least, we’re incredibly proud to announce that Helen K Thomas of RWE walked away with the Future Leaders Award. This was a thoroughly deserved accolade for the person who has been intrinsic to the creation and running of the Offshore Energy Alliance, which was established as a brand new supply chain cluster for the North Wales North West region in 2019. In addition to recognising Helen’s work in establishing the OEA, the judges also praised her excellent industry leadership skills and her work on Renewable UK’s Shadow Board.
